Boarding

The kennel facility is located on 2,000 acres of rural Dallas County countryside. We are a licensed boarding facility with the State of Iowa and encompasses individual runs with cleanliness and spaciousness in mind.  The kennel was designed to give more room to the larger breeds.  While staying in the kennel, your pet will have full access to an individual area encompassing a spacious 85 square foot concrete floor which is spotless.  They can choose to be indoor or outdoor via a swinging door in the wall.  All dogs, 10 to 150 pounds are welcome.  The facility is climate controlled and has a large, safe fenced exercise area where dogs are exercised multiple times daily.  This is a modern kennel operation with an automatic drinker in the kennel to provide unlimited amounts of fresh drinking water.  It is disinfected regularly to keep your pet as safe as possible.  Owners are welcome to bring their own dog food but house food is provided at no extra cost.  We strive to make your pet feel as if he/she is on vacation while you are on vacation.  Reservations are required.  Proof of vaccinations is required before your pet enters the facility.  The facility is conveniently located on Hwy 169, 1 1/2 miles south of De Soto, just minutes west of West Des Moines on all hard surface roads.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much exercise will my dog get?

We have 3 exercise yards that are about 1/3 acre each in size.  The standard exercise duration is 10 - 15 minutes in the morning and the afternoon.  You may also choose to enroll your pet in the additional daily exercise or personal play time.  This would give your pet an additional 15 minutes of an activity of your choice, examples being; playing fetch with a tennis ball, going for a walk in the countryside on a leash.

Will my dog like the boarding environment?

If you pet has never stayed at a boarding facility before he/she may go thru some anxiety.  Most pets that have been in the facility several times understand that you are not leaving them for good.  The more social your pet is with people and other dogs, the more comfortable they will be.  If your dog enjoys being in the fresh air and having plenty of room to roam, we might be the right fit.  We will treat your pet with the upmost respect and do our best to make it feel as comfortable as possible.

Is someone with my dog 24/7?

We do have living quarters in the building and have someone at the facility for your pet's safety.  Sorry, but because we have someone on site throughout the night, we are not available 24 hours for pick ups and drop offs.

What if I bring my own food?

Purina ProPlan food is provided at no extra charge.  If you bring your own food we ask that you put it in a sealable container or tote.  Also adding your pet's name and feeding instructions to the container will minimize any confusion about who the food belongs to or how much your pet is suppose to get.  Because puppies can have a more sensitive stomach, we ask you bring your food for dogs still on puppy food.  Typically this means dogs under 1 year old.

Can you administer medications for my dog?

We are able to administer most medications for your pet. Please bring any pill pockets, wet food, peanut butter, etc. if needed to give medication.  If your pet is diabetic and requires insulin shots, we will politely decline this duty.

Can I bring a dog bed and toys for my pet's stay?

Most runs have a plastic kennel deck for the dog to lay on.  If you would like to bring some bedding we suggest a rug or blanket over a stuffing filled bed.  The stuffing filled beds tend to get torn on the seams and are a hazard if ingested.  Toys are welcome as long as they are tennis ball size or larger.  Smaller toys may get "stolen" by neighboring dogs and possibly ingested.
